Leanne Pooley’s 25 April is one of the 27 titles submitted for Academy’s Animated Feature Film category. The field is a record number for the category.

Not all films have yet completed their required Los Angeles qualifying run. Once the qualifying period is complete, the final number of submissions will be known. Depending on that number of films, two to five may be put forward as nominees. A minimum of 16 films must qualify for five to advance as nominees. Animated features may also qualify for consideration in other categories if they meet those categories’ requirements.

The nominees for the 89th Oscars will be announced on 25 January (NZ date). The Oscar ceremony will run 27 February (NZ date).
