AFFNZ warms up

The third edition of the African Film Festival New Zealand has revealed this year’s programme, which will play Auckland next month and offer a smaller programme in Wellington. The 2017 titles comes from Burkinoa Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Uganda.

Izu Ojukwu’s ’76, Mbithi Masya’s Kati Kati and Rahmatou Keïta’s The Wedding Ring all played last September’s Toronto IFF, while Jonny von Wallström’s The Pearl of Africa played another A-list festival in Toronto, Hot Docs. Priscilla Anany’s Children of the Mountain (pictured, top) played last year’s edition of Tribeca.

The African Film Festival New Zealand will run in Auckland 6 – 12 April, and in Wellington 3 – 5 May.
