Animated Oscar draws 20 entries

20 features have been submitted for the Animated Feature Film category of the 2015 Academy Awards, the Academy has announced.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

Among the entrants are Dean DeBlois’ How to Train Your Dragon 2 for DreamWorks. DeBlois returns to Wellington for Animfx later this month as a keynote presenter. Also named is Rio 2, featuring the voice of longtime Wellingtonian and sometime creature of the night Jemaine Clement.

As per the Academy rules, not all titles are yet eligible to advance. Eight titles are yet to complete their qualifying theatrical runs.

Oscar nominees will be announced Friday 16 January, with the ceremony to be held on Monday 23 February (all times NZ).
