Animfx 2009: dates announced

Animfx has just launched its website for the 2009 conference, which will be held in Wellington November 5 – 7.

International speakers announced so far include John Stevenson, co-Director of Kung Fu Panda; Sander Schwartz, formerly President of International Production for Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) and President of Warner Bros. Animation, now an independent producer; Jeffrey A Okun, VFX whizz who’s just completed work on 20th Century Fox’s The Day The Earth Stood Still, and also created FX for Blood Diamond, The Last Samurai, Stargate, Lolita, The Crow: City of Angels, Die Hard 2: Die Harder and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me; and Joseph Olin, President of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, who was one of the most impassioned speakers at last year’s event.

Local speakers include the usual suspects of Weta and Sidhe personnel, not surprisingly as both companies sponsor the conference. No speakers have been announced as yet from fellow sponsors Park Road Post or Sauce.

The conference will be run differently to last year’s, which comprised almost exclusively individual speaker or panel sessions. This time the first day will be devoted to Master Class workshops. The Friday will be a day of keynote presentations, held at Te Papa. The closing day will offer a variety of workshops.

Further details will be announced shortly, including pricing and registration info. Check out Animfx for more information as it becomes available.
