Oscar-winning filmmaker Lord David Puttnam (pictured, top), producer of Chariots of Fire and The Killing Fields and 2010 APSA jury president, will lead a jury of previous APSA jury presidents to celebrate the tenth edition of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA).
Kim Dong-Ho, Nansun Shi, Jan Chapman and Shyam Benegal are announced as jury members.
Probably the most respected figure in the Korean film industry, Kim is currently chair of the Busan International Film Festival, tasked with mending the fences damaged in a long-running row about political interference in the festival. Hong Kong producer Shi is a regular juror and speaker at industry events across the region.
Chapman is well-known as a producer for features including Jane Campion’s The Piano and Bright Star and Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook. Veteran Indian director Benegal has over 70 features under his belt.
Other former presidents aren’t able to attend this year, although A Separation director Asghar Farhadi (APSA jury president 2014), has The Salesman in contention at this year’s APSAs.
Before the jury gets to do its job, the nominations council will work to select finalists this month. The council members, announced in late August, are academic and former PiFan director Hong-Joon Kim (Korea); director Maxine Williamson (Australia); academic Dr Anne Démy-Geroe (Australia); writer and director U-Wei Bin HajiSaari (Malaysia); and critics Igor Gouskov (Russia), Meenakshi Shedde (India) and Ain Ling Wong (Hong Kong)
The 10th edition of the < a href = http://www.asiapacificscreenacademy.com target="blank"> Asia Pacific Screen Awards will be held on Thursday 24 November alongside the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival.
