ARRI AMIRA cameras in Nutshell

ARRI, Auckland, 9 February 2016: Nutshell Camera Rentals is a boutique facility based in central Auckland. In a market where clients want everything, it is commonly expected that the smaller boutique houses are not capable of delivering the goods. Nutshell is different. Mixing four decades of experience with the latest technology, Nutshell was the first to market with the ARRI AMIRA in Australasia with its purchase of three cameras. Alongside the decision to buy the first of the range of ALURA Zooms, Nutshell has lead the way in the small New Zealand market with the latest ARRI products.

Raised on ARRI film cameras Nutshell owner, Paul Richards (pictured, top), has a deep understanding of the quality and intelligence behind the design of ARRI equipment as he explained, “Nutshell clients have a confidence in ARRI and its products, which is priceless. The name ARRI induces a level of satisfaction and calmness, which is kind of spiritual. The ARRI AMIRA camera is versatile, intelligent and robust. The menus are intuitive, the features support speed and simplicity and everyone enjoys working with the camera.”

According to Richards Nutshell’s clients typically require simple solutions and 200 fps @ ProRes 4:4:4:4 is a simple decision when shooting sport, drama or TVC work. 4K and interval record are an added bonus.

He added, “Interestingly, ARRI pitched the AMIRA camera as a doco-style camera, which doesn’t really tell the full story. The legacy cameras in the ARRI ALEXA range have convinced everyone of the image quality of the ARRI sensor.

Most people understand the AMIRA can do 80% of what an ALEXA does, without the weight and heavy power consumption. This is a very clever camera.”

The AMIRA camera also offers Richards and his clients several lens mount options including EF, B4 and PL which he sees as a major bonus.

Richards concluded, “I have to say ARRI AMIRA cameras are great. I also have to say that ARRI Australia is superb to deal with. Germany is a long way away, but the direct line via Stefan and Melaney for parts and advice, is extraordinary.”
