Attitude Pictures a finalist at Apollo Awards

Editor Jai Waite is nominated in the Editor – Long Form category for Jimmy Wants a Job, which screened as part of the 2013 series of Attitude. Waite is the only NZ finalist named for the Awards. The nomination comes less than a week after Attitude’s founder Robyn Scott-Vincent was named a Member of the NZ Order of Merit.

The Apollo Awards run at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands as part of BroadcastAsia. This year the Awards received 165 submissions, with 42 entries nominated as finalists. PriceWaterhouseCoopers will do the vote count before the gongs are handed out on 18 June.

Waite is nominated against two locals, Adeline Tan (for Ochre Pictures’ There Was A Time) and Tai Yih Khai (for August Pictures’ Home – The Chinese Weilongwu).

While there’s no other direct NZ interest at the awards NHNZ stablemate, Singapore-based Beach House Pictures, also has nods in a couple of categories. Both nominations are for Discovery Communications India’s Himalayan Tsunami. Karen Ng gets her nod for Colour Grading; Jerry Teo is up for the Sound Design – Long Form award.

The Asia Image Apollo Awards is an initiative aimed at honouring the best in Production and Post Production across Asia Pacific, with a strong focus on the creative and technical mastery. There are no front of camera or best show gongs.

Attitude is supported by NZ On Air. Jimmy Wants a Job is available to watch here.
