The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of this year’s International Emmy Kids Awards at MIPTV this morning NZ time.
Season 2 of Matchbox Pictures’ Nowhere Boys, which won over shows from Brazil, Italy and the Netherlands. The only other Australasian nominee, Galaxy Pop’s Get Ace, missed out on the Animation gong to Japanese show Ronja, The Robber’s Daughter.
The other winners were Best i Mest, (Norway, Non-Scripted Entertainment); Bing (UK, Pre-School); My Life: I Am Leo (UK, Factual); and Rabarber (Rhubarb) (Netherlands, TV Movie/Mini-Series).
Elsewhere around MipTV’s kids’ events, Pukeko and ITV Studios announced a third series of Thunderbirds Are Go. The announcement comes less than a month after the death of Thunderbirds creator Sylvia Anderson, originally the voice of Lady Penelope, who voiced the great aunt of Penelope for the new ITV-Pukeko incarnation (season 1, episode 22). Thunderbirds Are Go had its world premiere at MipJunior in 2014.
