Tropfest New Zealand has today announced an exciting new partnership with Wellington’s Avalon Film & Television Studios for the 2016 festival. Tropfest will add a new category, the Studio Award, to the 2016 award line-up.
Sponsored by Avalon Film & Television Studios, the award will offer a $10,000 studio package to the winner and Avalon and an offer of special studios rate to all Tropfest finalists.
Gary Watkins, Company Director of Avalon Studios said, “We are excited to be associated with Tropfest and the team that put the Festival together. This sponsorship enables us to raise our profile with emerging and talented film makers.”
Since moving into private ownership in 2013 Avalon has hosted projects including KHF Media’s Belief – The Janet Moses Story, Screentime’s How to Murder Your Wife, Desert Road’s Consent: The Louise Nicholas Story, Jason Stutter’s Dead Room and Chaz Harris’ recently-premiered webseries End of Term.
Suzanne Porter, Tropfest NZ CEO, was thrilled to welcome Avalon Studios to Tropfest’s growing list of sponsors. Porter said, “Tropfest aims to foster a new generation of filmmakers and we are passionate about providing them with incentives for career and skillset development.”
Entries for the 2016 Tropfest competition close at 5PM on 3 December. Finalists will be announced late January. The screening and awards eventwill run Saturday 27 February in New Plymouth.
