BAFTA kids nominees reflect shift to online

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has revealed this year’s nominations for the British Academy Children’s Awards.

The shift to online viewing among kids has been a topic meriting much discussion in the last few years, and is mirrored in the BAFTA nominees.

In the International category, three of the four nominations go to SVOD platforms, and the last to a cable channel. Amazon has nominations for An American Girl Story and The Snowy Day, Netflix for Ask the Storybots.

Netflix has a second nomination for The Little Prince in the Feature Film category.

Educational platform TrueTube has seven nods, the highest number of nominations, including three for Screwball! (pictured, top) and one for Channel of the Year.

The BAFTA Children’s Awards will be presented 26 November.
