Checkley has been appointed as Senior Development Producer, having recently held a similar role with Singapore-based activeTV. He’ll be responsible for creating and producing original content and developing creative partnerships for Beach House Kids – involved with NHNZ in the recently-launched ZooMoo channel – and newly formed Beach House Entertainment.

With over 12 years in content production, development and editorial/media consultancy, Checkley’s worked for A+E Networks Asia, Fox International Channels and Yahoo.

Prior to heading for Singapore in 2009, he worked here for TVNZ and in Beijing for the China Daily’s online Olympic Channel. Recently he’s been heavily-focused on factual as an EP on Star World’s Driving Change with Caltex Special and NBC’s E! News Asia, as well as developing, directing and producing MediaCorp’s food/lifestyle series The Food Detectives.

Also for MediaCorp, he produced and directed kids’ shows including Food Files and The Tritans.

Also joining BHP is former network exec Jim Ribbans, who’ll be BHP’s Head of Business Development.
Ribbans has worked on primarily factual content as a producer for broadcasters including the UK’s BskyB and ESPN Star Sports. Last year he was EP for branded show Freedom Riders Asia, winner of the Best Cross Platform gong at the 2013 Asian Television Awards.

With ZooMoo now up and running (if not yet in NZ) BHP is contemplating serious growth. The company has recently established its Kids, Entertainment and Studios divisions, including a subsidiary Beach House Pictures Taiwan.
