Actor Stan Walker and choreographer Parris Goebel are confirmed to attend the film’s premiere alongside the film’s director and producers.

Born to Dance is the debut feature film from director Tammy Davis. Davis pays tribute to the cast and crew for getting this film to its international premiere.

“The fact that we have made to this A list festival is a real tribute to all the hard work put in by the cast and crew,” Davis said.

Vendetta’s Jill Macnab, one of the film’s producers, called the selection “a fantastic opportunity for the film to be acquired for release in different countries”, noting there would be “a spotlight on the film from both NZ and international media, which helps raise the profile of Born To Dance around the world”. In March sales agent CMG’s Dené Anderberg told SCREENZ good interest in the trailer she was showing at AFM late last year and again at Hong Kong Filmart.

Toronto-bound Born to Dance is due here 24 September

Getting down with the lingo the NZFC’s Dave Gibson said, “Born to Dance’s selection to screen at TIFF is a wonderful opportunity for North American audiences to experience Polyswagg.”

Born to Dance is the third Kiwi feature set to have its world premiere at this year’s TIFF, with Pietra Brettkelly’s A Flickering Truth and Leanne Pooley’s 25 April already announced.

The Toronto International Film Festival runs 10 – 20 September.
