Box Office: week to 3 May 2017

The second Guardians of the Galaxy continues to rule the roost, but there are a couple of non-English language titles giving it a run for its money – at least on a takings per screen basis.

Love off the Cuff (pictured, top), the third title in Pang Ho-cheung’s unintended trilogy (after Love in a Puff and Love in the Buff) took over $12,000 per screen to open 10th. The second part of S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali goes even better, exceeding Guardians’ $14,000+ per screen take and opening at #3.

A Dog’s Purpose, featuring K.J. Apa, opens at #15. Locals Beyond the Known World, One Thousand Ropes and Pork Pie continue their runs.
