BSS 2013: writes Andrew Bovell into line-up

Award-winning Australian writer Andrew Bovell (A Most Wanted Man, Lantana, Strictly Ballroom) will give a screenwriting workshop at this year’s Big Screen Symposium.

Bovell writes for film, theatre and television. Following his 1992 original screenplay Strictly Ballroom, Bovell adapted his stage play Speaking In Tongues as feature film Lantana. It won  several awards worldwide including the AWGIE Award for Best Feature Film – Adaptation, the AFI Award for Best Screenplay, the Harper’s Bazaar AFI Screenwriting Prize, the British Independent Film Award for Best Foreign Language Independent Film – English Language, the Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Screenplay and the London Critics Circle Film Award Screenwriter of the Year Award.

His other film credits include Blessed, Head On, The Book of Revelation  and Martin Campbell’s feature version of Edge of Darkness, which Campbell previously directed as a 1980s British TV series.

Bovell’s most recent screenplay,  A Most Wanted Man of the John Le Carre novel, currently in post ahead of release later this year.
