BSS 2015 names first drawcard

This year’s Big Screen Symposium has opened ticket sales, with Jane Campion the first speaker announced.

Based in Australia, Oscar-winner Campion last worked in NZ on her Otago-set and -shot mini-series Top of the Lake. She is due to start shooting a second season of the show in Australia early next year. The move from film to television is something Campion will discuss at BSS.

Philippa Campbell, who worked on the first season of Top of the Lake and is returning for the second, will conduct an In Conversation session with Campion.

More speaker announcements and programme details will be rolled out from next week. Given the limited number of NZ feature releases so far this year, it’s likely there’ll be a stronger emphasis on international fare at the Symposium.

script to Screen’s Big Screen Symposium runs 10 – 11 October in Auckland. Earlybird tickets are now on sale until Friday 18 September.
