The Big Screen Symposium has named three more presenters for its 2016 edition: producer Heather Rae, Weta Digital’s multiple Oscar winner Joe Letteri and editor Simon Price.
American producer Rae is well-known for Courtney Hunt’s 2008 Sundance winner Frozen River and Sian Heder’s Tallulah, which premiered at Sundance this year.
Letteri is VFX Supervisor at Weta Digital, his four Oscars coming for the second and third Lord of the Rings titles, King Kong and Avatar. More recently he’s been busy with The BFG, and upcoming films including the latest in the Planet of the Apes franchise and Luc Besson’s Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets.
Price is well-known for editing a string of lower-budget but successful films inclusing Tusi Tamasese’s The Orator and Jake Mahaffy’s Free In Deed, both winners at the Venice International Film Festival. In between those he edited another Venice winner, Amiel Courtin-Wilson & Michael Cody’s Aussie feature Ruin.
Recently he’s edited ANZ TV series Cleverman and Yamin Tun’s short Wait, which won NZ’s Best.
This year’s Big Screen Symposium runs 24 – 25 September. Tickets are now on sale.
