The Busan International Film Festival has appointed KIM Young-Woo as a new Asian Cinema Programmer.
The Asian Cinema section has been co-managed by KIM Ji-Seok Executive Programmer and CHO Young-jung Programmer until Cho Young-jung’s departure at the end of 2013. The position remained empty until the addition of Kim Young-Woo who begins his duty this June.
Kim Young-Woo majored in Visual Arts and Television at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and began his career as a programmer working in several key Korean film festivals such as Chungmuro International Film Festival in Seoul and Green Film Festival in Seoul.
Kim Young-Woo will oversee documentaries and short films in Asia, and strive to introduce new and diverse Asian films to the audience along with Kim Ji-Seok Executive Programmer.
Current programmers are: Kim Ji-Seok Executive Programmer, in charge of Asian Cinema; NAM Dong-chul Programmer, Korean Cinema; RHEE Soue-won, Dosin PAK and Jin PARK Programmers, World Cinema; and HONG Hyosook Programmer, Korean Documentaries and Director of Asian Cinema Fund.
The 19th Busan International Film Festival will take place from October 2 – 11, 2014.
