Cannes Cinephiles includes the Cinema des Antipodes programme, curated by the St. Tropez-based Festival des Antipodes. This year three NZ titles are named in the mostly Australian line-up.
The two Kiwi features playing are Dana Rotberg’s White Lies, NZ’s submission for the foreign language Oscar, and Max Currie’s much-travelled Everything We Loved. The 11-strong feature line-up also includes Robert Connolly’s Paper Planes (which played the 2014 Festival des Antipodes and releases here this week), Adriyanto Dewo’s Indonesian title Tabula Rasa and Aaron Wilson’s Australia-Singapore co-production Canopy.
Craig Monahan’s Healing, one of last titles shot by Andrew Lesnie who died last week, is also selected.
Alyx Duncan’s The Tide Keeper is named in the seven-strong shorts selection. The short was recently named in the competition line-up at the world’s premiere animation festival, Annecy, which runs in France shortly after Cannes concludes.
Cannes Cinephiles runs 13 – 24 May. The 2015 edition of the Festival des Antipodes will run 12 – 18 October.
