NZ agencies collected a third Grand Prix in Cannes on Thursday when Y&R’s McWhopper campaign for Burger King took out the Media category. The campaign was already the most-awarded of the NZ entries.
More wins on Thursday include another gold, also in the Media category, for Colenso BBDO’s Brewtroleum campaign. Colenso also took three silver awards in the Media category, one for Anchor Milk campaign X-Ray Casts and two for the Unblocker campaign for Amnesty International.
A bronze was won by DDB NZ for the Westpac Chopper Appeal in the Media category.
The sole NZ nominee in the Creative Data category, Y&R NZ’s Living Memories, also won a bronze.
Canes Lions closes over the weekend with awards in several categories still to be announced. Despite a very good year in Cannes for NZ agencies so far, it’s disappointing that there are no nominations in the Film category, an area where NZ has previously seen good returns.
