This year Cannes received 4,550 short films from over 100 countries and has named nine in competition. They’ll compete for the Short Film Palme d’Or, with the winner to be decided by a jury led by Abderrahmane Sissako (Timbuktu).
A further 18 films from 16 countries play in the students’ Cinéfondation programme, chosen from the 1,600 film school submissions.
No NZ titles are named, although an Australian short is named in each programme.
