Chronesthesia to compete in US

Hayden Weal’s self-funded feature Chronesthesia will play in competition at the Austin Film Festival next month.

Chronesthesia had its premiere at this year’s NZIFF in Wellington. The festival added an extra screening to the original three programmed.

The film will have a run at Wellington’s Paramount from next week. It will also play Auckland’s Academy Cinemas and cinemas in Feilding and Stewart Island. Producers have put the word out to the other indie cinemas in NZ so expect to present the film in other centres over the next 6 months.

Featuring Weal and Michelle Ny (currently also in cinemas in The Rehearsal), the film is one of the 7-title competition line-up in Austin. Weal and producer Steve Barr will present the film in Texas before heading to AFM to try to attract some international sales.

The Austin Film Festival runs 13 – 20 October. AFM runs 2 – 9 November.
