Fresh producer, Lisa Taouma, is one of the artists of Pacific descent who’ll be honoured at next month’s Creative New Zealand Arts Pasifika Awards.
Formerly a journalist, Taouma has written extensively on representations of Polynesia in art and has worked in TV for many years. Prior to Fresh she was a director on Tagata Pasifika and Polyfest.
Her Tikilounge Productions created Thecoconet.tv, supported NZ on Air’s Kickstart Digital Media Fund.
Other CNZ awardees honoured will be Black Grace founder and choreographer Neil Ieremia; Lonnie Hutchinson, visual artist; Joana Monolagi, Fijian artist and curator; singer Manase Latu; and Ane Tonga, artist, curator and writer. The awards will be presented in Wellington on Wednesday 4 November.
