Doc Edge ED Dan Shanan will present a programme of four NZ titles in Tahiti this weekend on the opening day of this year’s FIFO.
Three of the four titles had their premiere outings at Doc Edge Festival. The fourth and most recent title, Hip Hop-eration, is EPed by Doc Edge’s Alex Lee.
Peter Burger and Charlotte Purdy’s Erebus: Operation Overdue was a four-time winner winner at Doc Edge last year, while Robyn Paterson’s Finding Mercy and James Brown’s Red White Black and Blue both played the 2013 festival.
As well as doing the presenting honours for the day, Shanan will also be a judge for FIFO’s competition line-up which this year doesn’t feature any NZ titles.
Mana Epiha’s Waka Huia portrait of artist Paitangi Ostick, Paitangi, plays out of competition. Two NZ titles play in the festival’s non-doco-specific short film programme. Jackie Van Beek’s In Safe Hands and Poata Eruera’s The Gift play in a 16-strong selection, half of which is made up of Australian titles.
FIFO runs 31 January – 8 February in Tahiti.
