The Edge TV has secured its first international programming. Sonic Highways is an eight-part documentary following the Foo Fighters recording their latest album.
MediaWorks Radio Group Content Director, Leon Wratt says: “I am thrilled to have Sonic Highways premiere in New Zealand on The Edge TV. This is The Edge TV’s first international show, and a taste of things to come for the channel. The next few months are going to be exciting.”
Sonic Highways premieres Sunday, 19 October at 9pm on The Edge TV (Freeview Channel 11 and Sky Channel 114), and will be available ondemand at therock.net.nz.
“It is excellent to see our stable of brands working together to leverage opportunities. Sonic Highways is an ideal brand fit for both The Edge and The Rock, so it makes sense to utilise both platforms.” says Leon.
In this new series, Foo Fighters commemorate their 20th anniversary by documenting the eight-city recording odyssey that produced their latest, and eighth, studio album.
Foo Fighters founder Dave Grohl directs the series, which taps into the musical heritage and cultural fabric of eight cities: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington D.C. and New York. The band based themselves at a legendary recording studio integral to the unique history and character of each location.
Foo Fighters’ Sonic Highways is, in Grohl’s words, “a love letter to the history of American music.”
