The European Film Academy has named 50 titles in contention for this year’s European Film Awards, which will be handed out in December.
31 European countries are represented on the list. Almost 20 of the titles in contention played this year’s NZIFF.
Last year’s big winner at the Awards was Paolo Sorrentino’s La Grande Bellezza, which went on to win this year’s Foreign Language Oscar. At the EFAs it took the gongs for Best Film, Director, Actor, and Editor.
The complete list of films under consideration is here. Nominees will be announced on 8 November at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain. The EFAs will be presented in Riga, European Capital of Culture 2014, on 13 December.
