The Emmy nominations were announced earlier today. Game of Thrones again collected the largest number of nominations (23) for September’s Emmy awards, with The People v. O.J. Simpson a close second with 22.
Productions with a Kiwi connection collected a small number of nods.
The (reputedly) final TV outing for Neil Cross’ detective Luther collected nominations for Lead Actor in a Limited Series (Idris Elba) and the TV Movie category.
Michelle Ang’s performance in webseries Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462 (pictured, top) earned her a nomination for Outstanding Actress In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series. The webseries was also nominated for Outstanding Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series. The TV show, led by Cliff Curtis and featuring Ang in its second season, didn’t receive any nominations in its own right.
The Amazing Race missed out on a nomination for Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality-Competition Program, but was nominated for Outstanding Picture Editing For A Structured Or Competition Reality Program, and for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. The show’s host and producer Phil Keoghan will be back in NZ shortly to present the world premiere of his doco Le Ride.
