Everything We Loved everywhere

Max Currie’s Escalator feature Everything We Loved will head to NZ screens of all shapes and sizes in a day and date release through the NZIFF, the NZFC’s Films on Demand platform, vimeo and on long haul flights.

Everything We Loved was funded in the 2011 round of Escalator alongside Curtis Vowell’s Fantail, which opened on Thursday after playing in last year’s NZIFF. Everything We Loved was initially submitted and funded as Stealing Tommy.

Everything We Loved will play theatrically in Auckland and Wellington, simultaneously with the NZFC’s shiny new FOD service for its NZ premiere.

The NZIFF can now claim a “Cape to the Bluff” reach for at least one of its 2014 selections. The online screening to coincide with the first theatrical screening will be sold as a special Premiere At Your Place ticket.

Producer Tom Hern (The Dark Horse, I’m Not Harry Jensen) said, “While nothing beats the gala atmosphere and buzz of a sold-out festival opening on a giant screen at the NZIFF, not everyone can get to a screening in Auckland or Wellington. Premiere At Your Place ticket holders can watch the film the moment the curtain goes up in theatres.”

Once the popcorn has been swept up, the film will also be released to long haul flights and Vimeo’s on-demand service, making it the second Vimeo-related news in a fortnight. The May launch of Loading Docs had Vimeo’s Jason Sondhi as a guest, who also presented at Screen Edge and promptly selected two of Loading Docs’ original 10 titles as Staff Picks.

For Everything We Loved Vimeo’s VP of Content Acquisitions, Sam Toles, called the film “the kind of quality production that we are honoured to bring to our platform”. Vimeo’s playback service has not always been the best on offer but, as part of the company’s push to better monetise its on-demand service, has recently undergone some changes.

Everything We Loved had its world premiere in competition at Palm Springs and has since played Washington DC, Seattle and has in-competition selections for Munich and Scarborough. This weekend it’s in 11-strong competition line-up at the Transylvania IFF in Romania.
