The annual Festival des Antipodes has revealed its 2016 programme, including a number of tiles which also played in the Festival’s Cannes programme in May.
Ivan Barge’s Madam Black, the sole NZ title in the Cannes programme, plays in the festival’s short film competition. 14 titles are named in the shorts line-up, with the other NZ shorts being David White’s The Couple and Oink
Andrea Bosshard & Shane Loader’s The Great Maiden’s Blush is the sole NZ feature in competition, up against five Australian titles. Last year, The Dark Horse won the festival’s Grand Prix and White Lies took Best Actress for Whirimako Black.
Two NZ features are named out of competition: Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s What We Do In The Shadows and Leanne Pooley’s 25 April, which also plays in Korea next month at the Bucheon International Animation Festival.
The festival’s opening and closing slots both go to Australian films: Anupam Sharma’s Unindian and Peter Andrikidis’ Alex And Eve.
The Festival des Antipodes runs 10 – 16 October in St Tropez, France.
