The New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards has named a half-dozen NZ productions among its finalists for the April awards bash.
SPP leads the way with a pair of nominations, for Best Writing Nothing Trivial (season 2) and Best Drama for The Almighty Johnsons (also season 2).
thedownlowconcept is nominated for Best Comedy with Hounds; Red Sky Film & Television picks up a nomination for Best Social Issues programme for Inside Child Poverty.
NZ companies pick up two nominations in the Nature & Wildlife category: Imagination Television gets a nod for Wild Life At The Zoo, while NHNZ is selected for Primeval New Zealand.
NHNZ’s Singapore production house Beach House Pictures (BHP) has four shows announced as finalists.
BHP’s Mao’s Cold War China vs USA episode is named a finalist in the TV Documentary/Information Program: History & Society category; the Mao’s Cold War China vs India episode in the Television-Craft: Program Best Writing category.
The Great Elephant Gathering competes in the Documentary/Information Program: Nature & Wildlife section; Megastructures – Gardens by the Bay in the Television-Craft: Program Best Editing category.
The awards are broad in scope and origin, with 50+ countries represented across the various nominations list. Australian companies picked up 33 nominations.
The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday 9 April (US time) at The NAB Show in Las Vegas.
