Thanks to the very fine folk at Icon Film Distribution, we’ve got 10 double passes to give away to Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, which opens here on 3 November.
Hacksaw Ridge had its world premiere at Venice in September, receiving a standing ovation, and has this month held premiere screenings in Australia (where Gibson shot it) and the US.
Based on Booton Herndon’s book, the film is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers.
Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Hacksaw Ridge stars Andrew Garfield as Doss, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Hugo Weaving, Ryan Corr, Teresa Palmer, and Rachel Griffiths.
To be in to win a double pass, send us an email to [email protected] with the subject line Hacksaw Ridge. If you’re feeling lucky, include your name and mailing address in the body of the email.
Entries close 11.59pm Wednesday 2 November. Winners drawn and passes on their way Thursday 3.
