HAF opens 2017 call

The Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has opened its call for projects for its 2017 edition. Organised by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) and run alongside the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), HAF is Asia’s leading film-financing platform.

HAF accepts submissions of fiction and documentary feature projects, and offers awards worth cHK$600,000 (NZ$120,000). Some awards are specific to Chinese language projects, including the HAF/FOX Project Award.

Previous HAF projects doing well on release include 2015 project Shahrbanoo Sadat’s Wolf and Sheep, produced by The Weight of Elephants producer Katja Adomeit, which took the Art Cinema Award at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight this year; and the slower gestating HAF 2011 project Port of Call (pictured, top), which took several awards at this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards and a brace at the Asian Film Awards in Macao.

Earlybird submissions to HAF close 19 September. The final submission deadline is 21 October. HAF will run 13 – 15 March 2017, alongside FILMART (13 – 16 March).
