University of Waikato student Louise Hutt is under way on a research project, Online Heroines, to explore the experiences of New Zealand women filmmakers who make and publish video-based media online.
Last year Hutt made short Why the Southern Ocean?, which won the NZ Icefest’s Footage for the Future competition.
The output from the research into women and online content will be in the form of a webseries as well as the more traditional and academic-leaning thesis.
Hutt is seeking participation from women who’ve played “a significant role” in web projects – creators, directors, producers, writers. She’s seeking to conduct interviews on the themes of experiences and attitudes towards online media platforms, and best practice in producing material for digital platforms.
More detail on Hutt’s project, including contact information for those wishing to take part, follows.
