HollyShorts picks Tits On A Bull

Tim Worrall’s Wairoa winner Tits on a Bull has been selected in competition for HollyShorts in the US. Prizes on offer include $15,000 in cash and $60,000 in post-production services.

Tits on a Bull is set in a Maori women’s rugby team in rural New Zealand and follows Phoenix Tawhana, the young star of the team, as she struggles to choose between her longtime friendship with aging coach Rusty or her new relationship with lesbian team-captain, Melanie. The film will play in a six-title LGBT programme at HollyShorts.

Tim Worrall said, “We are thrilled to have Tits on a Bull gain selection into the prestigious HollyShorts Film Festival. Maria Walker, who won the Best Female Actress Award at Wairoa Maori Film Festival for her performance in Tits on a Bull, will be travelling to LA to represent the film during the festival.”

Tits on a Bull film stars veteran Roy Billing, newcomer Ngawaea Taia and Maria Walker. Piripi Curtis and Lara Northcroft co-produced the Rotorua-based film as part of the Steambox Films series of shorts which also includes Richard Curtis’ Ahi Ka, Tihini Grants’ Elevation and Mike Jonathan’s fellow winner at Wairoa, Ow What.

HollyShorts runs in Los Angeles 13 – 22 August, with accompanying conference event running 14 – 21.
