After playing the Melbourne International Film Festival next weekend Housebound will take a second trip to Australia to open Sydney’s Underground Film Festival.
Before the trips across the ditch it squeezed in a grand opening at Auckland’s Civic on Saturday night in the NZIFF. Outside the NZIFF it will go on release here the same day it opens SUFF, 4 September.
Housebound is the only NZ feature named in the programme, which will close with David Wendt’s “unapologetically vulgar and undeniably fun” Wetlands and the presentation of the festival’s Dead Oscar awards, handed out to those filmmakers who “go the extra mile in transgressing the status quo”.
The SUFF runs 4 – 7 September.
