Housebound a triple winner at TAD

Although the festival finished a week ago, counting the votes for the vox pop goings takes a little longer. Now the dust has settled, Housebound has won Best Horror, Best Comedy And Best Ensemble Cast.

ABCs Of Death 2 took Best Title Sequence And Best Kill (for Z is for Zygote)

Tommy Wirkola’s Dead Snow 2: Red Vs Dead took the festival’s Audience Choice Gold Award for Best Feature Film, with the Spierig Brothers Predestination named the runner-up and – in a rare event at a horror festival – a doco title also awardedtaking the bronze award. Nicolas Kleiman & Rob Lindsay’s Why Horror?, about horror fandom, took the bronze award.

Predestination also took Best Sci-Fi And Best Screenplay. Two other Australian titles were also awarded. Kiah Roache-Turner’s Wyrmwood took Best Action Film and was named the Most Would Like To See A Sequel To. Recent BSS presenter Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook took five Awards: Best Director, Best Leading Actress (Essie Davis), Best Monster/Creature, Scariest Film and Best Trailer.

Seen here in the NZIFF, David Zellner’s Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter was named Most Original Film.
