Finalists have been named for the annual New Zealand Innovation Awards, including a number of screen indutry emmbers across various categories.
Leading the way with four nominations, Hugh Calveley and Michael Lonsdale’s Moxion is a nominee for the awards for Disruptive & Breakthrough Innovation, Export Innovation of the Year, Innovation in Technology Solutions, and Start-Up Innovation of the Year. In a number of those categories Moxion is up against ARANZ Geo, whose 3D modelling software is used by some game developers, and VR producer Corvecto.
Also collecting multiple nominations is AttitudeLive, nominated for the Innovation in Media, Marketing & Communications award and for the Excellence in Social Innovation gong. Sonnar Interactive gets nods in the Innovation in Tourism & Entertainment and Innovation Excellence in Research categories.
Metia Interactive, whose CEO Maru Nihoniho recently joined the Maori Television board, is up for the Innovation in Maori Development gong.
Former Park Road Post-er and recently named head of ops for Department of Post, Katie Hinsen is in the running for the award for Most Inspiring Individual.
Elsewhere in business-focused awards news, Staples VR has picked up a pair of nominations in the Best Emerging Business and Excellence in Innovation catgeories for the Westpac Auckland Business Awards, which will announce its winners in November.
