NZ short films have taken out the Best Short Film and Best Animated Short Film at Australia’s A Night of Horror International Film Festival (ANOH) in Sydney.
Guy Pigden’s No Caller I.D. (pictured, top) took the Best Short Film award, while Matasila Freshwater’s Shmeat took the Best Animated Short Film award.
It’s Pigden second win at ANOH after Escalator feature I Survived A Zombie Holocaust took the Independent Spirit Award at the festival in 2014. No Caller I.D. recently played Screamfest LA, where I Survived A Zombie Holocaust also played in 2014.
Shmeat was a finalist in the NZIFF’s NZ’s Best line-up this year, and has a solid crop of festival selections under its belt, including ASFF, Show Me Shorts and Europe’s premiere genre festival, Sitges.
The Ant Timpson-produced Greasy Strangler also played the festival. The full list of winners at A Night of Horror is here.
