Korean Festival to include film titles

October’s Korean festival in Auckland has announced its programme, with events celebrating Korean food, music, art and film at free events across the city.

Events are free to attend, although some require registration.

Consul General, Chang soon Cha, at the Korean Consulate in Auckland says, “Korea and New Zealand have been working closely together for over 60 years, and this December sees the first anniversary of our Free Trade Agreement. To celebrate this, we want to create a series of free events, that would introduce New Zealand to a vibrant and dynamic aspect of Korean culture.”

The five-title film programme includes Very Ordinary Couple featuring Min-hee Kim, recently on screen here in Park Chan-wook’s NZIFF title The Handmaiden. Dong-hoon Choi’s excellent heist movie The Thieves (pictured, top) features an ensemble cast having a lot of fun and broke plenty of box office records on its release in Korea.

The full Korean Festival programme is available here. The film programme runs 18 – 22 October at the Academy Cinemas.
