LA Webfest gets a Boon

Possibly giving the longest leadtime of any festival, the LA Wefest has announced its official selection for its 2015 programme. NZ’s The Adventures of Suzy Boon and 40 other titles are presently in the frame.

The announcement is the first of five programme rounds, so there’s the chance other Kiwi titles will yet join the fray alongside Suzy Boon. In the present announcement, Chris & Josh, Doobie Nights, I Love You But…, Low Life, We Are Darren & Riley and Wingman are named from Australia. A separate announcement (to come) names the titles selected from each round which will screen in competition.

The Adventures of Suzy Boon was created by producer Roberto Nascimento (shorts Dick Knows, Satisfaction, Brazilian Ninja), written by Thomas Sainsbury & Louis Mendiola. The series was directed by Cristobal Araus Lobos (Netherwood), whose Team Del Sur 48 Hours film Love in the Time of Chlamydia shares a jumping-off point with British TV comedy Scrotal Recall.

Earlier this year The Adventures of Suzy Boon in the Melbourne and Miami Web Fests. At the 2014 edition of LA Webfest, the first season of Callum Butcher, Rachel Choy & Jeremy Garland’s Walter Wants A Woman was selected.

The Adventures of Suzy Boon will play in LA Webfest’s 2015 edition, which runs 2 – 5 April, 2015.
