Lexi seeking post pledges

Multitude, Oamuru, 9 April 2014: A new independent feature film set in Oamaru is using local talent to showcase the region. Lexi is the debut film from writer/director Wayne Turner about a young woman with dyslexia, struggling to cope in a world that just wants to keep her down.

Inspired by true events, Lexi has been a passion project for Turner. It is currently seeking $20,000 to complete post-production on New Zealand-based crowdfunding platform, PledgeMe. The project has begun to generate intense interest from the local community, with dozens of premier reward packages being donated.

The film stars a collection of locals, many of whom fit filming around shifts at meat processing plants and factories. Filming on weekends over several months, the dedication of cast and crew has produced a film that highlights the struggles faced by many ordinary people in mainland New Zealand.

“Thank you very much for supporting independent films, and making it possible to bring a uniquely New Zealand story to the big screen. Without your help these stories would never be told.”
