Lightbox CE Kym Niblock has announced she will leave the company at end of year, giving management plenty of time to find a replacement.
Niblock joined Lightbox in mid-2014 and said she’d decided to leave because “I will have essentially accomplished what I set out to do”. Niblock is the second key figure at Lightbox to step down this year, following the jump by head of content Margaret Mahony across to Bravo. Mahony spoke at a 2014 BSS session on digital distribution of content. The landscape has changed a bit since then with the arrival in NZ of Netflix and the disappearance of some players.
Late last year, Lightbox partnered with Show Me Shorts, carrying a selection of the festival’s titles on its SVOD service and becoming the festival’s key sponsor.
