Macau launches film festival

The Chinese gambling Mecca of Macau has launched its inaugural film festival, slated to run December 26 – January 2.

Eschewing traditional marketing practices like having a website that works, the festival has nonetheless invited entries.

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 15.

The Macau International Film Festival (MIFF) jury will be chaired by popular Chinese actor Ge You (If You Are the One) and will award prizes for best feature film, screenplay, director, actor, actress and newcomer.

Presumably, since its the inaugural festival, everybody’s up for the newcomer award.
