Maoriland grows imagineNATIVE links

Maoriland Film Festival director Libby Hakaraia will sit on the Jury at this year’s ImagineNATIVE festival in Toronto in October.

Hakaraia will be part of a Maoriland delegation making the trip, with The Dead Lands producer Tainui Stephens and Pat & Tania Hakaraia, who’ll be looking at imagineNATIVE’s organisation to save them reinventing the wheel as they grow future editions of Maoriland.

Pat Hakaraia will focus on imagineNative’s short film programme, with the aim of curating a kids’ short film programme for Maoriland’s 2015 edition.

While this year’s country focus at imagineNATIVE is on Australia, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s What We Do in the Shadows, “presented by NBC Universal”.

The imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival will run 22 – 16 October. The sophomore edition of Maoriland Film Festival will run 22 – 29 March 2015.
