Meat heads offshore

From the Executive Producer of Grizzly Man, Cave of Forgotten Dreams and the Oscar-nominated Encounters at the End of the World comes a new Kiwi documentary feature film. MEAT is the story of three farmers and a hunter and is written, produced and directed by filmmaker David White (Shihad: Beautiful Machine, I Kill, The Cleanest Pig, The Couple, Little Criminals).

Starring New Zealand Facebook and YouTube star Josh James Kiwi Bushman along with three Kiwi farmers – Ian, a South Island pig farmer; Jill, a sheep farmer from the Manawatu; and Tony, a Whanganui-based chicken farmer, MEAT is the modern story of the animals we eat, as told by the people who never get to say their piece – from the solitary hunter who believes everyone needs to be educated about their food, to the industrial pig farmer who argues that money isn’t his primary driver.

MEAT is a revealing and thought-provoking documentary that does not tell you what to think – but shines a new light on the people, the land and everything that lies behind the supermarket shelves.

The film will be released in New Zealand cinemas by Chris Matthews of Caramel Canine Films on Thursday May 4, 2017.

In the USA, the film will be distributed by MPI Media Group who acquired the North American distribution rights and also represents MEAT for international sales.
