MediaWorks names new chair

The revolving door at MediaWorks keeps on spinning with the announcement of the impending departure of Rod McGeoch, who’ll be replaced as chair of the board by current board member Jack Matthews.

McGeoch had been a supporter of Mark Weldon, who stood down earlier this year. Speculation that McGeoch would soon be on his way followed Weldon’s departure.

MediaWorks announced Matthews will commence as chair at the end of next month. The company’s board will then be Matthews, new CEO Michael Anderson, Julie Christie, Paul Lockey and Jonas Mitzschke.

According to the MediaWorks statement, “Mr McGeoch says his time at MediaWorks has been ‘incredibly rewarding'” – which unfortunately sounds like gloating by a company many of whose staff have not found the last couple of years very rewarding at all and have left the building, willingly or otherwise. Well done or, in MediaWorks, Bravo.
