This year’s Mountain Film Festival has announced the winners of its film awards. The winners were chosen from the 78-strong festival selection, which includes 15 NZ titles.
Slovakian Pavol Barabáš’ Footprints On The Ridge takes the Grand Prize; the one prize guaranteed to a local winner, the Hiddleston/MacQueen Award for the Best NZ-Made Film, is announced during the festival.
The finalists are Wanaka’s Lachlan Humphreys & Colin Boyd (A New Zealand Freeride Story), Jase Hancox (Cardrona New Zealand: While you Sleep and Wrangelled – A Ski-mountaineering Flick), David Walden (Fool’s Paradise) and Tim Pierce (Red Bull Mates in Alaska), who will compete with Blair Trotman (Do It For The Love), Guillaume Charton (Wye we love it!) and Aaron Smart (A to B).

The Mountain Film Festival runs in Wanaka 4 – 8 July and in Queenstown 10 – 11 July.
