Netflix will launch in NZ on 24 March.
The company has announced some practical detail around the launch, but no pricing and little in the way of programme information. Marco Polo is one of the few programmes confirmed and the only one with obvious NZ connections. Tim Coddington was a co-producer on the first series and will return for the second. Lawrence Makoare (The Dead Lands, The Ferryman, The Hobbit) featured in front of the camera.
Netflix has a combined ANZ social media presence up and running on various platforms, presently offering a test card.
Netflix will be available on a range of smart televisions, PlayStation 3 and 4, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and Nintendo’s Wii U, plus Apple TV, Google Chromecast, and Apple and Android tablets and smartphones.
Those who sign up for specific plans offered by Vodafone will receive several months of prepaid service, whilst consumers purchasing Microsoft’s next generation console, the Xbox One, at select stores will receive three months prepaid access to the Netflix service, starting 24 March and for a limited time only.
