New festival for Waikato

The inaugural edition of the Arohanui Film Festival, set to run at the end of October, is now seeking submissions.

The festival, “a non-competitive environment for independent films and filmmakers to meet, discuss ideas and get inspired” is the brainchild of Lynne Renwick, recipient of Queen’s Services Medal for services to the arts in South Auckland.

Renwick plans a programme of discussions to accompany screenings. The festival is targeting shorts and features, with submission deadlines on 31 July and 10 September.
