NHNZ Moving Images adds underwater collection

NHNZ, Dunedin, 15 December 2015: NHNZ Moving Images this month signed an exclusive representation deal with Feodor Pitcairn Productions Library.
The incredibly valuable collection comes from world-renowned, multi-award winning ocean photographer, videographer and producer Feodor Pitcairn.
Pitcairn’s productions include the five part series Ocean Wilds for PBS, Ocean Odyssey for Smithsonian and the intimate humpback whale documentary Ocean Voyagers for Animal Planet.
The Feodor Pitcairn Collection adds over 65 hours of underwater and topside ocean footage to the NHNZ Moving Images library, including stunning locations and a plethora of sea creatures from around the world.
Footage highlights come from the massively biodiverse reefs of Raja Ampat, Indonesia; mass spawning in the Gladden Spit Marine Reserve, Belize; idiosyncratic creatures from the Galapagos; and the densely populated kelp forests surrounding the Channel Islands off the coast of California.
The collection also includes an unequalled offering of whale footage, with significant coverage of humpbacks, sperm whales, grey whales and orcas.
NHNZ Managing Director, Kyle Murdoch says landing the Pitcairn collection is a coup for a NHNZ’s growing boutique archive library.
“The Feodor Pitcairn Collection has great aesthetic value, including stunning shots of some of the world’s most beautiful and awe-inspiring ocean creatures and environments, but is equally important for its potential research, conservation and educational applications.
“Much of this footage has never been used before in a commercial capacity, so we are thrilled to represent it as we build our specialist archive offerings in the natural history arena. “
