The New York Festivals International Tv & Film Awards has named its 2017 jury, drawing broadcast and film industry executives from 34 countries. Seven New Zealanders are named in the 180-strong mix.
Those to add to your Christmas card list are:
- Alexander Behse, Monsoon Pictures International Ltd,
- Ivars Berzins, Pacific Screen Ltd,
- Amanda Evans, Pacific Screen Limited,
- Donna Malane, Lippy Pictures Ltd,
- Anna Marbrook, Zoomslide,
- Kelly Martin, South Pacific Pictures,
- Mark McNeill, Razor Films,
Over half the New Zealand jury members are female, well ahead of the percentage of all the judges (34%). Most, if not all, the NZ judges are from companies which have previously won awards at the event.
Grand Jury members score entries 1-10 based on a set of criteria: Production Values, Creativity, Content Presentation, Direction, Writing, Achievement of Purpose and Audience Suitability. Based on the medal-round scores from the Grand Jury, winners receive one of the following: Gold World Medal, Silver World Medal, Bronze World Medal, or Finalist Certificate. The highest scoring entries receive the Grand Trophy honouring “Best in Show”.
NZ TV shows have a decent track record at the event, although there’s little representation in the film categories.
Entries for the 2017 NYF’s World’s Best TV & Films close 15 October.
The 2017 Television & Film Awards gala will take place at the NAB Show in Las Vegas on 25 April.
